Project story
Tarry Trl
At Tarry Trl, Kerr’s finish carpentry and specialty installations formed part of the 2022–2025 renovation of the historic Gatewood House. Built in 1938, the Tudor Revival residence was designed by Edwin C. Kreisle. Limestone walls, steep gables, turrets, and decorative wood brackets give the house its distinctive character. The City of Austin granted the property historic zoning in 2002.
Our scope ranged from selective demolition and framing to custom window and door installation, architectural trim, radius raised paneling with arched opening details, and specialty casework installation. We also installed a custom-milled jointed fence, finish hardware, and the final details that bring the individual assemblies together. Throughout the work, careful fitting at openings and transitions helped connect the new installations with the existing architecture.
Working with general contractor Dalgleish Construction Company and interior designer Blair Burton, we coordinated our installations through each phase of the renovation. The focus was on getting the proportions, profiles, and fit right so the new work respected the craftsmanship and character of the original home.
